The Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology is saddened by the passing of longtime member and distinguished Pennsylvania archaeologist Stanley “Stan” Lantz, who died on June 23, 2026, at the age of 101.
Stan devoted decades to the study and preservation of Pennsylvania archaeology and touched the lives of countless archaeologists, students, and avocational researchers through his work and his generosity. His contributions to the field and to the Society will be remembered for years to come.
Our thoughts are with Stan’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
