About Local Chapters
SPA local chapters support archaeology across Pennsylvania through public programs, research, and community engagement. Each chapter operates independently while following SPA guidelines.

Note: Some SPA chapters are currently inactive and are not listed below. If you are interested in reviving an inactive chapter or forming a new chapter, see the Chapter Resources section above.
Allegheny Chapter (#1)
Meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:30 PM.
Meetings are held September through June via zoom, with two in person meetings, one in the spring and one in the fall.
December meetings are informal holiday gatherings.

Mon-Yough Chapter (#3)
Holds its business meeting on the third Tuesday of each month at 5:15 PM, in person or via Zoom.
Educational programs begin at 6:00 PM and are open to the public.
No meetings are held in June, July or August.

Frances Dorrance Chapter (#11)
Meets on the last Tuesday of the month, March through November. No meeting: June, July, August or December
Meetings are held at the Duryea Municipal Building and at the Conrail Site.

Meets at 3:30 PM on the second Thursday of the month at the Middle Smithfield Township Community & Cultural Center, East Stroudsburg.

Meets during the school year on the second Thursday of the month at the South Hills School of Business and Technology in State College.

Lower Susquehanna Archaeological Society Chapter (#28)
Meetings and events vary throughout the year.
Most lectures and excavations are held at Blue Rock Heritage Center, Washington Boro, PA.
The chapter offers citizen-scientist programs and hands-on learning opportunities.
