About the Annual Meeting

Each spring, archaeologists, avocational researchers, students, Tribal partners, and members of the public gather for the Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology’s Annual Meeting.

The weekend includes:

  • Research paper and poster presentations

  • Workshops and special sessions

  • Traditional skills and games, including hands-on and experiential activities

  • Banquet and keynote speaker

  • Student poster competitions

  • Book room and vendor tables

  • Networking opportunities for professionals and the public

Registration Update:

Pre-registration for the 95th Annual Meeting has now closed, and the hotel group rate deadline has passed. On-site registration will be available during the meeting; however, banquet and lunch selections are now closed.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Comfort Suites DuBois for attendees of the 95th Annual Meeting of the Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology.

Room Rate:
$149.00 per night, plus applicable taxes

Please mention “Pennsylvania Archaeologists – 2026” to receive the discounted group rate.

Important Notes:

  • Early reservations are strongly recommended

  • Hotel group rate ends April 1, 2026 — book early

  • Free self-parking is available on site

Sessions, Events, and Participation

Poster Session

Students are invited to present posters during the annual poster session. Abstracts should follow the Call for Papers guidelines. Student submissions are welcomed and encouraged.

Book Room & Vendors

The Book Room will be informal. Vendors are responsible for their own displays. SPA tables will be open during scheduled breaks and lunch periods.

To reserve space in the Book Room, please contact the Program Chair by April 1, 2026.

Traditional Skills & Games

Join us for hands-on activities highlighting traditional skills and experimental approaches to learning from the past, including friendly games and demonstrations. Details and schedule are available in the poster below.

Auction & Fundraising

A silent auction will be held throughout the meeting, with selected items featured in a live auction during the Saturday evening banquet.

  • Silent auction items will be displayed along the meeting room walls

  • Winning bids will be announced at the close of Saturday paper sessions

  • Payment by cash or check only

  • Chapters and individuals are encouraged to donate items with a suggested value tag

  • A 50/50 raffle will follow the Saturday banquet speaker

Proceeds from the auction support reduced meeting costs for members and help offset registration fees for students.
