Pennsylvania Archaeology Month

Celebrating Pennsylvania’s archaeological heritage each October

Each October, Pennsylvania Archaeology Month highlights the importance of preserving and understanding the Commonwealth’s archaeological heritage. Through public programs, lectures, festivals, and community events, organizations across the state share how archaeology connects people to Pennsylvania’s past.

Archaeology Month 2025

The 2025 Pennsylvania Archaeology Month theme is “Save the Past for the Future.” This year’s poster highlights community-based archaeology and the many ways archaeological work helps document, protect, and preserve cultural resources. Through collaboration, research, and shared stewardship, archaeology supports communities in recording overlooked histories and safeguarding places of meaning for future generations.
