The Parker Earthwork, Corunna, Ontario
Thomas E. Lee
In 1956 an Indian earthwork was investigated near Corunna for the National Museum of Canada. It is strategically situated two miles east of the St. Clair River and only a few miles from the south end of Lake Huron. It had been visited in 1901 by David Boyle and was at that time intact. The single ridge of earth formed an oval 330 by17 4 feet, surrounded by a ditch. One gateway is now visible. Three drainaged itches cross the earth ridge. Four burial mounds lie outside the earthwork. Nearly 1,100 Indian cornhills have been observed and plotted within it.
